DHA’s Senior Citizens’ Happiness Centre becomes the first government centre in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia to get this global accreditation for standards of excellence

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 20 April, 2022: The DHA’s Senior Citizens’ Happiness Centre has obtained the international accreditation for standards of excellence for long-term home care from the Joint Commission International ( JCI) making it the first independent government centre in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia to obtain this Accreditation. Dr Ahmed Ibrahim Bin Kalban, CEO of Clinical Support Services Sector at the DHA stressed on the importance of this accreditation, which reflects the level of services provided by the centre. Dr Kalban said the centre provides the highest quality of inpatient and outpatient services to the elderly population with compassion and care. He said the accreditation reflects the highest quality of internationally recognised service the centre provides. Dr. Salwa Al-Suwaidi, Geriatrician and Head of the Senior Citizens’ Happiness Center at the Dubai Health Authority, reviewed the various services provided by the center, which was opened in October of 1993 to provide integrated health and social services for senior citizens through long-term health care for inpatients. Dr. Al-Suwaidi said that the centre provides comprehensive health, preventive, curative and rehabilitative care for senior citizens and has a multidisciplinary team of doctors from geriatricians to rehabilitation specialists. The Dubai Diabetes Centre and the Dubai Thalassemia Centre were able to renew their JCIA accreditation due to the highest quality of medical services they provide patients and the holistic care they offer patients.
