Paediatric Surgery services to be transferred from Latifa Hospital for Women and Children to Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital

  • The move aims to integrate specialized paediatric care to best utilize state-of-the-art equipment and expertise.
  • The decision with benefit both hospitals as they can focus on the provision of patient-centered and internationally recognised level of gynecological and paediatric care respectively.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, August 8, 2021:  The Paediatric Surgery Service at DHA’s Latifa Hospital for Women and Children has been transferred to Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital.

The move aims to provide specialized paediatric services to children under one roof as well as provides Latifa Hospital for Women and Children with an opportunity to focus on further developing and expanding its obstetrics and gynecological care, an area of expertise it is highly-renowned for.

The decision aids both parties and pays emphasis to ensuring the highest quality of care that is specialized and accessible.

The decision was taken after detailed studies from specialists and experts in the field as well as after findings from both hospitals which concluded that the integration would help best utilize the modern equipment and techniques available as well as further develop and expand specialized health services.

The transfer will ensure that all the same protocols and provision of the highest level of care continues to be provided to patients.  At the same time, there will be no changes in health insurance or any other procedures to ensure smooth implementation of the process as well as to provide high-quality care and convenience.

DHA had signed a MoU with Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital in April this year to enhance collaboration with an aim to provide easy access to world-class care and exchange expertise as well as collaborate in specialised paediatric medical fields.

Dr. Abdulla Al Khayat, Chief Executive Officer of Al Jalila Children's Hospital  said: “The integration of paediatric services, provides an opportunity for expertise transfer as well as better utilization of available resources and state-of-the-art medical technology with an aim to continue to provide the highest quality of care to our patients. At the same time, this provides Latifa Hospital and opportunity to focus on the provision of gynecological care. Both Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital and Latifa Hospital are known not only in the UAE but also in the region for their care and expertise, this decision aims to further enhance the care we provide keeping excellence and patient-centered care in mind.”

Dr Muna Tahlak, CEO of Latifa Hospital for Women and Children said, “We aim to provide the highest quality of care to patients and keeping this vision in mind, we have taken this decision which will ensure that we can further develop and enhance these two important fields of medicine- gynecology and fetal care we well as pediatrics in the Emirate of Dubai. Both hospitals are recognised for their expertise in the UAE and the region, and we aim to further develop these fields as patient-centered care and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.”
