UAE, Dubai, 19 June, 2011: His Excellency Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority and His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of the Dubai Economic Department( DED) inaugurated recently, the new offices of the DHA Health Regulation Department which is conveniently located at Business Village in Deira.
The Dubai Health Regulation department relocated its base from Dubai Healthcare City to the new and improved offices at Business Village in a move to provide customers with a larger space and ease of transactions.
His Excellency Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority said, “The DHA Health Regulation department is a dynamic section because it caters to the regulatory needs of physicians and healthcare facilities in the Emirate of Dubai. The aim of this relocation is to consolidate all the sections of the DHA Health regulation within the same office space and to provide redesigned, state-of -the -art workspaces, which will further enhance efficiencies and our capacity to better serve the residents and healthcare facilities in Dubai.”
Prior to this move, the Clinical Government Office and the Quality Assurance Section were not based in the same offices. However, the new facility has all sections under the same office and provides ample waiting area. The new facility can accommodate more than 100 customers at any given time.
Dr Ramadan Ibrahim, Director of DHA Health Regulation department said, “The DHA Health Regulation department is very customer driven because we provide all services with regard to issuing new licenses, renewing licenses for facilities and physicians in Dubai. Moreover, our clinical governance office also addresses medical negligence and/or malpractice complaints. Therefore, enhancing our customer service experience has always been at the forefront of our future plans.”
His Excellency toured the department with other senior officials and Dr Ibrahim provided an overview of the achievements of the department. He said that the aim of the DHA health regulation department is to build a more transparent healthcare system.
The scope of work of the DHA Health Regulation department is vast as it includes managing the regulation requirements for over 2200 health facilities including clinics and pharmacies, 20 hospitals we well as 16,000 healthcare professionals including doctors, technicians etc.
In terms of 2010 statistics, Dr Ramadan highlighted that in 2010, the Health Regulation Department licensed 2082 facilities, of which 184 were new facilities. The Health Regulation department also processed 94% of its total translations electronically.
The total transactions in 2010, including licensing of establishments and healthcare professionals is 308, 349 of which 290,338 were done electronically and 18, 011 were done directly whereby customers had to personally visit the regulation offices.
The DHA health regulation department is responsible for the regulatory needs of physicians and healthcare facilities in the Emirate of Dubai. Therefore, one of the long-term initiatives of the department is to conduct regular stakeholder engagement initiatives with the private sector to receive feedback and suggestions to better improvise existing regulatory systems and implement new ones. The consultant program, which is a long-term initiative, also ensures that the private sector is up-to-date with the regulatory policies, rules and regulations which are implemented to safeguard the interest of patients and the healthcare sector in Dubai.
The new offices are located at Business Village, Building B, 3rd Floor, Offices 332-335, near the Clock Tower in Deira. Office timings remain the same, Sunday to Thursday from 7:30 to 2:30.
