Neonatology

  • The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Latifa Hospital is a 34-bed Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which cares for approximately 750 babies annually.
  • The NICU provides care for newborns of all gestational ages and is specially equipped to care for premature infants as young as 24 weeks gestation. Our state-of-the-art facility is the largest NICU in Dubai. It provides advanced neonatal respiratory support such as High Frequency Ventilation.
  • Our neonatologists (specialists in the area of newborn medicine) are nationally recognized for their skills and experience. Our neonatologists provide on-site evaluation and treatment 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year, for our NICU babies.
  • We treat babies with simple and complex prematurity, respiratory disease, congenital malformations and genetic abnormalities, neonatal infections, and neonatal neurological and metabolic disorders.
  • All babies admitted to NICU will have a hearing test prior to their discharge. If a referral is necessary then the staff at the NICU will arrange it.
  • In addition to caring for the needs of premature and sick babies, our doctors provide comprehensive inpatient newborn care to healthy newborns during their hospital stay.
