Are you overweight? 

You can check if you are overweight by calculating your Body Mass Index (BMI).

 

BMI is a commonly used measure of overweight and obesity. BMI is calculated from your height and weight. It applies to male and female adults 20 years and above.

 

You can calculate your BMI manually as follows:

 

Body Mass Index = weight (in kilograms) ÷ [height x height (in metres)]

Below 18.5

Underweight:

Talk with your healthcare provider to determine possible causes of underweight and if you need to gain weight.

 

Normal weight:

Maintaining a healthy weight may reduce the risk of chronic diseases associated with overweight and obesity. Try one of these simple tips today to stay trim and keep healthy.

 

Overweight:

You are at a higher risk for chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol. At a minimum, try to avoid gaining additional weight. If you are overweight with other risk factors (such as high LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol or high blood pressure), you should try to lose weight.

 

Even a small loss in weight (just 10% of your current weight) may help lower the risk of disease. Talk with your healthcare provider to determine appropriate ways to lose weight. Take a step today with one of these simple tips. 

 

Obese:
