Clinical attachment/work placement/volunteer
Clinical attachments are defined as the temporary clinical placement of a qualified doctor in a specified clinical department in a specified healthcare facility for a specified period of time under direct supervision of a pre-identified clinical supervisor. The broad aim of a clinical attachment is to allow participants to gain an appreciation of the nature of clinical practice whilst observing the role of doctors and other healthcare professionals within DHA hospitals without any clinical practice privileges.
Dubai Healthcare Volunteer Program (DHVP):
DHVP is a program lasting a maximum of four weeks where a high school student is exposed to the healthcare environment under the supervision of a named supervisor with the broad aim of gaining a deeper appreciation of clinical practice and volunteer work.
General Information:
The period of attachment should not exceed 12 weeks within one calendar year.
Applicants must provide the following requirements:
A completed application form.
A Health Clearance Certificate: Individuals must attach a Health Clearance letter or visit the Medical Fitness Centers at DHA to have the required medical checkup and routine investigation.
An original certificate of good standing from either the last employer or the applicant’s medical school.
An up-to-date CV.
A copy of a valid visa status: The MED will need to see the applicant’s passport that shows the applicant has permission to stay in the UAE for the period of the clinical attachment.
A passport copy.
If the applicant is a GRADUATE, then the following documents must be attached:
1. Degree Certificate.
2. Internship Letter.
3. CV.
4. Valid Passport Copy.
If the applicant is a STUDENT, then the following documents must be attached:
1. ‘To Whom It May Concern’ Letter (from the college).
2. Valid Passport Copy.
In addition to the above attachments, applicants must include a letter directed to the (MED Director), stating:
1. The Specialty.
2. The Hospital.
3. The Duration
4. The Starting Date (when the applicant is willing to do the clinical attachment)
DHA is currently able to accommodate attachments in the following specialty:
Rashid Hospital: Internal Medicine, General Surgery, A&E, Emergency Medicine and Clinical Support.
Dubai Hospital: Internal Medicine, General Surgery, A&E, Clinical Support, Obs. & Gyn. and Pediatrics.
Al Wasl Hospital: Maternity and Pediatrics.
Primary Health Care: Family Medicine and Community.
