
Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has given directives to change the name of Dubai’s Al Wasl Hospital into Latifa Hospital as a homage to the loving memory of his late mother Sheikha Latifa Bint Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“I issued a directive today to rename Al Wasl Hospital in Dubai to “Latifa Hospital” honouring the memory of my late mother ”ThankUmother” tweeted Shaikh Mohammed today through his page.
The hospital is one of the largest maternity and children's hospital in UAE and was built in 1987. The hospital provides tertiary care for maternal and neonatal services including paediatric and neonatal surgery as well as treatment for genetic & metabolic cases.
Earlier last week, Sheikh Mohammed had shared with the world through Twitter, his fond memories of his beloved mother Sheikha Latifa and her profound impact on him. He also urged all people to do good to their on mothers.
Thousands of people from around the world responded to him appreciating his call. Sheikh Mohammed also ordered to celebrate the sixth anniversary of his accession day as Mother’s Day as a respect to every mother.
Sheikha Latifa Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan was known for her limitless charity, generosity and kindness to the poor and the needy, for her patience and wisdom, as well as for many good characters and ethics the Arab and Islamic culture has cultivated. She also played pioneering role in encouraging women in Dubai for education as part of empowering them for participating in the process of development.
